NIU STEAM is made up of programs and people committed to providing activities that spark curiosity, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking.

NIU STEAM Works is the umbrella name for programming out of NIU's Center for P-20 Engagement. Our popular programs include SmartSpace@NIU, STEM Cafes, STEM Divas, STEM Outreach, and STEM Read. All of our programs combine the best of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to provide a unique educational experience for audiences across the entire learning continuum.

Attend a premiere screening for the new PBS nature documentary series, Life Unearthed with Ariel Waldman. This series follows National Geographic Explorer Waldman through two undiscovered territories, Antarctica and the American Prairie, at scales never before seen on film. Join the Director and Lead Science Advisor for two unaired episodes filmed right in your backyard at the Nachusa Grasslands, followed by a Q&A. We look forward to seeing you there!
