These incoming 6th graders & 9th grader practiced taking notes with nothing but a pencil and some paper. They’re glad they did a practice round!
They’re feeling more ready if they are in class, the teacher doesn’t give out guided notes, and they’re expected to take notes in a notebook.

Blending sounds to make words is harder than it looks! Eliminate the pause between letter sounds and drag the sounds together instead. Switch from “P. I. N.” to “piiiiinnnn”.

The Reasoning part is the hardest! I’m working with a handful of incoming 6th graders on CER writing so they feel prepared for ELA class.
