🍎 Back to Basics

Over the past 3+ years of tutoring students full-time, I’ve seen reoccurring themes:

⚡️Students of all ages must master place value and number sense so they can fully learn the language of math.

⚡️Students of all ages need explicit writing instruction. This includes phonics all the way through the writing process for narrative/ expository/ opinion pieces.

⚡️Students learn best when they actively take notes. Many students come to tutoring sessions with little to no written information from class. This year, we will be focusing on how to take notes and what to do with them.

We use minimal technology at Amy’s Schoolhouse. We are going back to basics. How to be a good student, mastering number sense, becoming a phonics and writing wizard.

There are 3 more weeks on our summer schedule. The fall schedule starts August 17. Contact Amy to set up one tutoring session or a whole series.

July Summer Skate Camp starts this week! We love to teach kids who have no experience how to safely get started. Whether your kid already loves skateboarding, or they want to learn, Skate Camp is a fun environment for everyone!

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 12 (August 17 for PreK and Kindergarten) -- Are you ready??

We are holding a registration event on Wednesday, July 8, open to all incoming new and returning D428 students in 2026-2027.
