Discover how NIU BookLab can bring hands-on learning into your classroom!

Faculty and staff are invited to explore NIU’s newest interdisciplinary makerspace and teaching resource during the BookLab Faculty Open House. Stop by to participate in hands-on activities and learn how BookLab can support creative, experiential learning across disciplines.

Activities include:

3:30–5:30 p.m. Print an NIU-themed poster on a historic printing press and explore how students can use BookLab for creative projects.

3:45–4 p.m. Tour Rare Books and Special Collections and learn how to request class visits and find resources for student projects.

4–4:30 p.m. Create your own notebook and try a hands-on activity you can bring to your students.

Today, NIU Libraries joins communities across the country in recognizing Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience and the ongoing pursuit of equity.

Juneteenth invites all of us to consider the ongoing work of creating spaces where every person feels seen, valued and welcomed. As we honor this important day, we encourage everyone to learn about the history and stories that continue to shape our shared future.
