Bulldog Families,

We hope you and your families are safe and doing well following the hurricane. We know many in our community are still dealing with the effects of the storm, and we want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

As we prepare to welcome everyone back, we wanted to share a few important updates regarding our schedule, academics, and athletics.

Return to School

All students and staff will return to school on Wednesday, October 14, following our regular schedule.

First Nine Weeks Exams

We will operate on a block schedule Thursday, October 15, to allow students to complete their remaining nine weeks exams for periods 2, 4, 6, and Homeroom.

Volleyball

The volleyball tournament has been rescheduled for later this week. We will share the updated schedule as soon as details are finalized.

Football

Our varsity football game against Marianna will take place Thursday, October 15, as originally scheduled, at Marianna.

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities and practices may take place as needed. Students and families should stay in communication with their coaches, schools, and athletic directors regarding schedules and any changes.

We understand that some of our families have a lot on their plates right now. If your family has been impacted by the storm or needs assistance, please reach out to us. We want to help however we can.

Our theme this year is Built to Rise, and we’ve seen time and again what that means here in Freeport. It’s about looking out for one another, helping our neighbors, and coming together when it matters most.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We look forward to having our Bulldogs back on campus Wednesday.

All Walton County School District campuses will be closed Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, due to anticipated impacts from Isaias. This closure applies to all extracurricular activities such as athletic games, practices, and club meetings.

The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. These closures will allow families time to prepare and follow guidance from Walton County Emergency Management.

Future updates and announcements will be available on District social media channels as well as our website.

As we close out the first nine weeks, we want to remind students and families about a few important dates coming up.

9 Weeks Exams

Wednesday, October 7
Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7

Thursday, October 8
Periods 2, 4, and 6

These exams help students show what they have learned and help teachers identify areas where additional support may be needed.

Friday, October 9: Early Release for students
Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13: No School for students

Student Check-Out Reminder

If your child needs to check out early, please email [email protected] or upload documentation in FOCUS before 9:00 AM on the day of check-out.

Students must have a request on file and complete the check-out process through the front office and kiosk before leaving campus.

PSAT: Wednesday, October 14

All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will take the PSAT.

The PSAT matters whether a student plans to attend a four-year university, community or state college, technical or trade school, enter the military, pursue an apprenticeship, or go directly into the workforce.

The PSAT can help students:

* See where they currently stand in reading, writing, and math.
* Identify strengths and areas to improve before future SAT, college, career, or technical testing.
* Build testing experience and confidence.
* Connect academic strengths to possible careers and future pathways.
* Access college, career, financial aid, and scholarship planning resources.
* Become eligible for certain scholarship and recognition opportunities.
* For 11th graders, qualify for consideration in the National Merit Scholarship Program through the PSAT/NMSQT.

For 9th and 10th graders, this is an early opportunity to see where you are and what you can improve before junior and senior year. For 11th graders, this is an important opportunity to measure college and career readiness, prepare for upcoming SAT testing, and potentially qualify for scholarship recognition.

Students will return to regular classes after PSAT testing, so October 14 will remain a full instructional day.

Please help us make sure students are present, prepared, and ready to give their best effort.

Some major announcements….

Due to the storm issues and possible school closures in Escambia county and the need to make sure we get the district game against catholic in this week, we have moved the varsity game to Wednesday at 7:30.

We understand this is not ideal and we do not make this decision lightly… thank you for understanding.

Today in Coach Williams Criminal Justice 1 class, students were putting documents back together in order to solve a forged documents case involving fraud. Each piece of document played an important part to answering questions and solving the case.
