Don't miss our second summer book check-out opportunity on Wednesday, July 16th, from 4:30-5:30! This is especially helpful to Riverwoods families who may not have access to a public library. See you there!
South Park Elementary School is one of four high-achieving elementary schools in District 109.
Students from South Park Elementary School (along with Wilmot Elementary School students) feed into Caruso Middle School. South Park has an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) whose volunteers help plan events, enrichment programs and fundraisers to support the teachers, students and school community.

We’ve managed to stay warm on this chilly winter day thanks to a visit from Corey the Dribbler! He shared words of wisdom and talked about the importance of being kind and treating others how you want to be treated 🫶 All while casually dribbling six basketballs at one time🏀✨

Wahoo!!! Ms. Jahng does amazing work with our students and our library. A very well-deserved award!🥳
We are incredibly proud to share that our South Park Elementary School - District 109 librarian, Ms. Kelly Jahng has been awarded the 2024 Innovative School Library Program Award from AISLE (Association of Illinois School Librarians)! 📚✨
This well-deserved recognition honors her incredible work on the "Bragging on Books" program, which she launched last year to help our 3rd graders make strides in their reading progress. Through book chats, earning fun “brag tags,” and hosting a Parent/Student Book Club (where families read "The Doughnut Fix" together and enjoyed a lunch discussion), this initiative inspired a love for reading across our community. We are thrilled to see how many students and parents joined in, and we’re so proud of the growth in reading scores! 📖👏 A huge congratulations to Ms. Jahng for her dedication and passion. This award reflects her unwavering commitment to our students’ success!

Is it plastic? Is it yarn? It's Plarn!🧐🧶
This Friday was our Bluestem First Friday event in our LMC! 4th graders gathered around to read one of the Illinois Bluestem Award book nominees, "Washed Ashore: Making Art from Ocean Plastic." 4th graders worked with Gratitude Generation to make plarn (plastic yarn) out of grocery bags, which will be crocheted into sleeping mats for those without access to reliable shelter.

We kicked our Thursday morning off with a class builder, where we tried to read our classmates minds and strike the same pose 💪🏴☠️💃
