TEDS is the divinity school of Trinity Western University in Canada.

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) offers a dynamic and globally engaged pathway for students pursuing master’s or doctoral theological degrees within a Christ-centred community. TEDS (teds.edu), one of the largest seminaries in the world, enrolls more than 1,200 graduate students in professional and academic programs, including more than 150 in its PhD programs. At the heart of the divinity school is the Master of Divinity program, preparing pastors, teachers, and missionaries for many kinds of service. TEDS also offers a range of more focused Master of Arts programs in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Ministries, Ministry, Christian Studies, New Testament, Old Testament, Intercultural Studies and many other disciplines. Additionally, TEDS offers advanced degrees such as the Master of Theology (ThM) and Doctor of Ministry (DMin). Three academic PhD programs are also offered in these fields: Educational Studies, Intercultural Studies, and Theological Studies (with concentrations in OT, NT, Systematic Theology and Historical Theology).

A global cohort of TEDS students convened at TWU last week for Dr. Tite Tiénou's course, Missiology as a Discipline. 🌍

The class brought together students from around the world, including Egypt, Vietnam, France, Australia, and Japan, with additional participants joining via livestream from India, Cameroon, and Ethiopia.

We're excited to see Christian ministers, missionaries, and educators discussing ideas and learning from one another!

Dr. Tite Tiénou, the Tite Tiénou Chair of Global Theology and World Christianity, Research Professor of Theology of Mission, and Dean Emeritus of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), received the honorific title of Chevalier de l'Ordre de l'Étalon from the government of Burkina Faso in April 2025.

Dr. Tiénou received this distinguished honor alongside four members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Burkina Faso.

“Dr. Tienou is widely recognized as one of evangelicalism's leading theologians and missiologists whose influence spans the globe,” says Dr. Craig Ott, Professor of Mission and Intercultural Studies at TEDS. “It is most fitting that his country of origin has honored him with this significant award.”

The title, which translates to “Knight of the Order of the Stallion,” is the highest honorary distinction in Burkina Faso. The award recognizes personal merit and eminent civil or military service to the nation, according to the website for the Grand Chancellery of the Burkinabe Orders.

Dr. David Pao, Dean and Professor of New Testament at TEDS, said, “Dr. Tite Tiénou is a distinguished global theologian whose influence extends well beyond the academy. This honor further affirms his vital contributions in the public square. TEDS is proud to count Dr. Tiénou among our own.”
