Did you know that June is World Ocean Month? Its the perfect time to celebrate the incredible marine life that calls our oceans home! 🌎💙

Today, we’re giving a big shoutout to one of the ocean’s most ancient and majestic creatures, the sea turtle! 🐢 These gentle swimmers have been gliding through the seas for over 100 million years!

Let’s all do our part to keep our oceans clean and safe for sea turtles and their marine friends. Reduce plastic, recycle, and always leave the beach better than you found it. ♻️🏖️

Happy World Sea Turtle Day!
Here in Florida, tens of thousands of sea turtles nest on our beaches every year.
Sea turtles are only on land for a short but critical portion of their lives (nesting and hatching).

Unfortunately, obstacles left behind by people, like sandcastles, holes made in the sand, beach chairs, trash, and anything else left on the beach overnight, can trap hatchlings and adults. Artificial light from phones, cameras, flashlights, and beachfront properties can also disturb and confuse sea turtles, leading them into danger.

So next time you’re packing up after a long day at the beach, remember to:
• Smooth down sandcastles and fill in man-made holes
• Remove all beach gear and equipment
• Pick up any trash or fishing line you see

At night, remember not to use phones, flash photography, and flashlights on the beach.

Finally, give any turtles you see plenty of space, and call Wildlife Alert anytime you see a dead or injured sea turtle or illegal activity such as harassment of turtles or tampering of nests (888-404-3922).

🌊🥧 Happy Pi Day from Oceans Charter School! 🥧🌊

Did you know that the ocean and pies have something in common? Just like a perfectly round pie, ocean waves follow circular patterns known as wave orbits! When a wave moves across the sea, the water particles don’t actually travel forward but instead move in circular motions—just like the shape of π (pi), which represents the never-ending ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter! 🌊🔵

So today, whether you're calculating pi or enjoying a delicious slice of pie, remember that math is everywhere—even in the ocean! 🌍💙
