Woohoo Tristan!! Our SL senior who is working with Kinston Public Services and has already been offered a full-time job once he graduates!

“ For many LCPS students, especially our seniors who just started their last year with us, the path after graduation doesn’t just lead to a college campus — it leads straight into the workforce.

Through Career & Technical Education programs and strong partnerships with local employers, students are finding real-world opportunities while still in high school. Apprenticeships, internships and industry certifications are helping them graduate career-ready, with the skills and confidence to step into high-demand jobs in our community.

This past year, students explored careers as auto mechanics, welders, truck drivers, electric linemen, certified nurse assistants and more. A growing number are joining paid apprenticeship programs with local employers like Crown Equipment and the City of Kinston’s Public Services Department — turning classroom learning into valuable work experience and, often, full-time job offers.

“We understand that success looks different for every student,” said Dr. Amy Jones, LCPS director of high school education and CTE. “While college is one path, many of our students are eager to enter the workforce and start building their future right away. It’s our responsibility to honor those ambitions by preparing them with real-world skills, industry credentials and hands-on experiences.”

Whether it’s building trucks, maintaining city services, or providing health care as a CNA, LCPS students are proving they’re ready to contribute, grow and thrive in the local workforce.
