Students in our ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ took on the role of investors during a ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ค ๐๐๐ง๐ค-style learning experience focused on the question: How can I create positive change through innovation?
Working in groups, students researched companies and organizations engaged in social ventures. They examined the problem each venture was trying to solve, what made its approach innovative, who would benefit, evidence of its impact, and potential ethical concerns or unintended consequences.
Groups then presented their findings and made the case for investment, putting a limited amount of funding behind the ventures they believed could create meaningful change.
A great example of the IB approach in action: ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ, and considering how individual choices can contribute to change within larger systems.
