Most athletes focus solely on acceleration, but poor deceleration mechanics are one of the leading causes of non-contact ACL and knee injuries.

🚨 The obvious reason we do so many split squat variations? Build stronger legs.

💥 A stronger leg can create more force per stride. More force can create more distance. More distance gives us something powerful to convert into speed.

🪄 But the coach doesn’t always reveal the hidden magic inside the programming.

🛡️ My first job is keeping athletes healthy.

☑️ Healthy means available.
☑️ Available means actionable.
☑️ Actionable means recruitable.

🧠 That’s where split squat variations earn their value beyond strength.

✅ Bulgarian split squats challenge single-leg pelvic control.
✅ Contralateral loading forces the trunk and hip to resist rotation.
✅ Goblet loading increases the demand to maintain a stacked torso.
✅ Deficit variations expose athletes to deeper hip positions while demanding control.
✅ Every variation asks the hips, adductors, abdominals, and glutes to manage force around what we call the Zone of Convergence.

🚨 The average Stadium Performance athlete spends 6–8 years developing with us. Amelia Sousa is about to finish year five.

🧠 The first 3–4 years are about building the foundation: strength, durability, situational awareness, recovery habits, sleep, confidence, and an understanding of what your body actually needs.

🌎 Then we “release them to the wild.”

📚 That’s what we call college.

By then, we shouldn’t be worried about whether they can handle training, protect their health, advocate for themselves, or meet the demands of a new environment.

📈 When they come back after freshman year, the conversation changes.

❓ What worked? What didn’t? What needs to improve? How do we make year six better than year five?

🎥 We don’t need 50 clips of Amelia this summer.

Three statements told us everything:

✅ “I work too hard to not be the best physical version of myself.”

🚨 What does it mean to leave Stadium Performance “SP Bullet Proof”?

📊 After nearly 13 years and tens of thousands of data points, we’ve identified a handful of performance standards that matter deeply to us.

Not because they look impressive on Instagram.

Because they demonstrate strength, control, durability, and ownership of some of the weakest positions an athlete will encounter.

🛡️ Before an athlete leaves for college, we want them capable of:

✅ 6 ass-to-grass pistol squats on each leg.
✅ 6 back squats at 1.25× bodyweight to 90° of knee flexion in 10.2 seconds.
✅ 6 bowler squats each leg with a knee tap.
✅ 6 single-leg stand-ups each leg from a deficit below 90° of knee flexion.
✅ 10 consecutive broad jumps without breaking 90° of knee flexion.

💪 ADDY KEAVENEY has checked every box.

And then some.

🚨 We’re doing a fair review of CADDIX

I tried to get a pair sent to me. No luck.

One of my high-level lacrosse athletes came back from school and told me:

“These are the worst things I’ve ever worn.”

Not because the studs failed. Because the entire boot felt brutally rigid and his feet hurt.

So I wanted to know why.

🧠 Here’s what I found.
✅ The stud pattern is genuinely ideal.
✅ Several studs do rotate under load, but not enough to matter.
✅ The stud beneath the first ray/big toe region matters a lot because that area is heavily involved in propulsion and directional change.
✅ The heel counter lacks appropriate rigidity. This supports claims of a “loose heel.”

✅ The leather feels premium, and it cut ✂️ well too. 🤪

But there are concerns.

🚫 The forefoot is extremely stiff.
🚫 Some studs move considerably more than others.
🚫 There is still an aggressive toe blade that can potentially create a very different release characteristic than the rotating studs around it.
🚫 The technology requires a substantial amount of structural support underneath the foot.

The theory behind Caddix is simple:

Allow certain studs to rotate and potentially reduce rotational forces transferred up the leg.

Sounds great.

But reduced rotational resistance can also come with a tradeoff.

If the stud rotates before releasing, does ground-contact time increase?

Does that cost performance?

Does the rigidity required to support the technology create other foot or lower-extremity issues?

Those answers are not established simply because the marketing looks good.

And that’s my biggest issue. Right now, the concept is exciting.

The long-term athlete data is what matters.

I’m not saying Caddix causes ACL injuries. I’m also not prepared to say it prevents them.

Interesting technology is not the same thing as proven injury reduction.

My job isn’t to sell you the newest cleat. My job is to figure out whether it deserves to be on your foot.
