The Rashi School Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish independent school for Grades PK-8

Located on a 162-acre wooded campus on the Charles River, Rashi attracts students from areas surrounding Boston, Jamaica Plain, Wellesley, Newton, and Needham. Our 300 students from Kindergarten through 8th grade benefit from a warm, academically challenging, and values-rich environment that cultivates commitment and respect for learning in the classroom and outside. The Rashi interdisciplinary curriculum weaves Jewish studies seamlessly with secular learning, integrating material from varied subjects through the school day. Rashi teachers are adept at differentiating their instruction, designing lessons around students’ readiness, interests and learning profiles. Rashi’s dedication to Social Justice extends from classroom curricula into all-school projects, individual initiatives, and community partnerships. Rashi shares a campus with NewBridge on the Charles, a multi-generational village where Rashi students’ and NewBridge residents’ lives intersect and enrich each other. Rashi, the Boston area’s Reform Jewish Independent School, is a diverse community welcoming interfaith families.

Rashi's Kindergarten families celebrated the start of their children's Jewish learning journeys this week with the annual Ta'am Tov (sweet taste) program. They created art, sang songs, and each family shared a personalized blessing for their child.

Rashi alumni met with Grade 8 students last night to speak about their high school journeys. Our alumni were enthusiastic, and our students asked thoughtful questions as they dive into their own secondary school exploration.

Rashi had its first Tribes gathering of the year! Middle School students led their younger peers in Sukkot-themed activities, from making sukkah decorations to designing posters for the Sukkot donation drive. This school-wide tradition is just one of many opportunities throughout the year for our student leaders to shine.

Our parents say it best 💙 Their experiences speak to what makes The Rashi School so special: "[The students are] inclusive, they're kind. And also, they feel the real importance of changing the world, and they take that with them."

We love seeing The Rashi School's mission reflected in these words. See the rest of Jessica's (P'24, '27, '30) testimonial on rashi.org/by-the-numbers.

Rashi students from Pre-K to Grade 8 participated in tashlich (meaning "to cast"), a ceremony in which regrets from the previous year are symbolically cast away via breadcrumbs (or fish food!) into a body of water. This Rosh Hashanah tradition allows us to begin the New Year fresh, with meaningful and positive intentions.

"At Rashi, the library has never been just a room full of books; it’s a launchpad for curiosity, discovery, and lifelong learning."

Hear from Director of Library and Educational Technology Julie Koven as she speaks to the importance of a strong library program. From finding the perfect book to honing digital citizenship skills, Rashi students build their intellectual stamina and curiosity across platforms, genres, and subjects📚 Read the full article on our blog https://www.rashi.org/library-literacy/
