Alpha Beta Psi (ABY) has been a recognized sorority at Luther College since 1954. The original purpose of this organization was to promote lasting relationships, but has since expanded to include various service projects to the college as well as the surrounding community. Alpha Beta Psi has developed various traditions that hold a special place in each active's heart. These traditions include var
ious social and charity events along with wearing red on Tuesdays. Our main philanthropies work towards raising money for The Jessa Slostad Memorial Scholarship and to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease with close ties to our sorority as we lost a member to this in 2002. Since then we have created many events to raise money for these organizations which include the 5k Fun Run with the Decorah Fire Department, Send a Crush to your Crush, Candygrams, Pie in the Eye, and Homecoming Shirts. In 2014 Alpha Beta Psi began to work with Love Your Melon which gives a hat to a child battling cancer for every hat sold. In the Spring of 2015 they had sold enough hats to give a hat to every child in the US with cancer and is now donating fifty percent of their proceeds to Pinky Swear Foundation to provide immediate support for children battling cancer and CureSearch for Children’s Cancer to fund research initiatives on track to beat childhood cancer completely.
