The fifth graders recently enjoyed a field trip to the Fort Atkinson Iowa Rendezvous Days School Day, complete with educational exhibits, a cannon and anvil shoot, and fun pioneer foods to try.

A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who were able to join us! Fun memories were made by all!

Good Morning, St. Ben's Families,

I have been in touch with the Decorah Police Department this morning regarding the ongoing situation within our community. Together, we believe it is safe and appropriate for our school to resume outdoor activities as normal today. For added peace of mind and oversight, we will have additional staff supervision during recess.

The safety of our students is always our highest priority. Thank you for your care and concern. Should any changes to our school's plan become necessary, we will let our families know through our communication channels as soon as we are able.

Thank you,
Mr. Justin Johnson
Principal, St. Benedict School

This was the verse that Fr. Anane challenged our students to remember from our very first school Mass - if a student could recite it back to him, they would get a special treat!

Congratulations to Wallace for remembering that verse almost a month later, and for being the first student to share it with Fr. Anane!

6th Graders headed to Winneshiek County's Lake Meyer last week for a field trip!

Expanding upon their reading of the book Hatchet, students spent two days at Lake Meyer putting their survival skills to the test! Students teamed up to build shelters in the woods, fish, kayak, navigate with a compass and GPS, and start fires with flint and steel. They celebrated their successful fire-building by roasting marshmallows and enjoying s'mores! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ›ถ๐ŸŽฃ

We had a great day last Friday celebrating Homecoming Spirit Day and cheering on the Vikings along with our local community!

๐Ÿˆ Members of Decorah's marching band, color guard, and fall athletic teams got us fired up for a Viking win
๐Ÿˆ It was so fun to see St. Ben's alumni, including a few older siblings โ˜บ๏ธ
๐Ÿˆ Mr. Kullen's 8th Grade Leadership Class helped our younger students get decked out in blue and red at recess
๐Ÿˆ We played a LOT of football!
๐Ÿˆ Before heading downtown for the Homecoming Parade, K-8 students gathered outside for a St. Ben's pep assembly and enjoyed some Bomb Pops!

St. Ben's loves cheering on the Decorah Vikings! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™
