Luther College Ministries You are welcome here: whoever you are, whoever you know yourself to be, whoever you are becoming.

What would it take to create a place where everyone is welcome, everyone is needed? For starters, it would take God's vision of the church--a feast where we are strengthened by encounters with God and one another and then sent out for the sake of the world. Everyone has a place at the table; everyone has something to offer. In College Ministries, our convictions run deep enough that we can invite others to share their story of faith freely and with joy. Our conversations about life matter enough to move us into action. Join us as together we seek to explore, experience, and live out God's vision for the church! Worship is at the core of Luther's life as a community of faith and learning. Daily, there are opportunities on campus to participate in and lead worship services that will strengthen and nurture your faith, and also help you grow as you encounter a diverse and vibrant community of faith. Rooted in a Christian tradition where Word and Sacrament nourish our lives, we gather regularly to be reminded of who and whose we are. Whether in our chapel, the Center for Faith and Life--affectionately called the CFL--or out on the library lawn for an outdoor worship service, we affirm with the apostle Paul that in Christ "there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female" (Galatians 3:28). Students play an active role in leading all our worship services. Whatever your faith background, you are invited to share your gifts in worship, both as a participant and as a leader.

Today's chapel speaker was Paul Hemenway, career coach and curriculum integration manager. Paul shared that we grow the most in situations when we feel most alive or in times of dissonance. He highlighted a quote from Frederick Buchner: “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet."

Paul challenged us to have the courage to ask questions, stay curious, and fully lean into life.

Join us for chapel on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Join us Wednesday, October 7 at 7:30 PM at First Lutheran Church, 604 W. Broadway, Decorah, for this year's Decorah Pride Ecumenical Worship Service. Guest preacher Ross Murray—ELCA deacon and founder of The Naming Project, a faith-based camp for LGBTQ+ youth—has spent his ministry helping young people know they are named and loved as children of God. Pastor Melissa will also be speaking as part of worship. The service also celebrates First Lutheran's 10th anniversary as a Reconciling in Christ congregation. All ages welcome—youth and elders alike!
