Our Criminal Justice program is on the case! 🔍

Decatur's Criminal Justice students started the day with a mock crime scene, where they learned to examine crime scenes and document evidence. Students discovered firsthand the high stakes of the documentation process and how their role directly impacts a legal case. It's all in the details! 📝📸

It is always exciting to reconnect with our students and families after the summer break! It has been a fast summer. But we're ready.

Our summer staff have done an amazing job getting the facilities cleaned and ready for students. In addition to cleaning, the staff had many projects this summer to repair and replace equipment and facilities. The grounds look amazing with a lot of trimming and brush removal. One big project that is ongoing is the Decatur Elementary Roof replacement. The roof replacement is an academic partnership warm safe dry project. It should be completed before Labor Day.

We had tremendous growth in achievement across the district last year and expect the same this coming school year. Math, English, and science all saw gains in student achievement and expected growth. Our classroom teachers did an amazing job last year providing strong classroom instruction that was both rigorous and targeted to our students. I know our teachers have been busy preparing curriculum and attending professional development in anticipation of our students returning.

My advice for our students and parents as we enter the first days of school across Northwest Arkansas is to be careful and patient. We will have many students walking to school and a sharp increase in traffic in and around the schools. Plan extra time for travelling to school and work as everyone adjusts to the new school year.

We are excited to welcome everyone back and get the school year started! Please reach out to us if we can help in any way.

Last, but certainly not least, we'd like to welcome Mr. Pablo Fuentes-Olvera to Decatur Schools as we wrap up our posts! Mr. Fuentes-Olvera will be teaching High School Math this year. Welcome to the Bulldog Family, Mr. Fuentes-Olvera!
