From Mrs. Highley’s Biology class:

Our biology students chose an animal from the Illinois endangered species list and used the IDNR website to learn about its habitat. They explored how human activity contributes to habitat loss, then created a visual model or used pictures to compare an impacted habitat to what they imagine as “restoration.”

I’m also working to restore an empty roadside lot with plants that support birds, with the goal of getting it certified through Plants for Birds. It’s exciting to connect what we’re learning in class to a habitat project right here in our community! 🌿🐦
