With the extreme heat and ongoing drought impacting Wise County, this information from the Texas A&M Forest Service provides helpful guidance on properly watering trees and keeping them healthy. A little extra care now can make a big difference in helping trees survive these harsh conditions.

Your trees are feeling the heat too 🌳☀️

High temperatures and limited rainfall can put stress on trees, especially young or recently planted ones.

During hot, dry conditions, pay attention to your tree and the moisture in the soil before reaching for the hose. Both too little and too much water can stress a tree and overwatering can contribute to tree decline.

When watering is needed, water slowly and deeply around the root zone rather than directly at the trunk. A layer of mulch can also help retain soil moisture and regulate soil temperature.

Watch for signs of stress, including wilting, leaf scorch, early leaf drop or canopy dieback.

Great tips and valuable information on how to read and understand Nutrition Facts labels to make healthier choices.

Before you toss it in the shopping cart, read the nutrition label. 🛒

Dr. Jenna Anding, AgriLife Extension nutrition specialist and professor in the Texas A&M University - Department of Nutrition, says the Nutrition Facts label beats marketing buzzwords every time. Terms like "organic" or "cage-free" sound healthy, but they don't tell you much about a product's actual nutrition.
