Science in 3rd grade was “alive” this week! Students learned about living vs. nonliving things and explored what all living things need to survive. To bring their learning to life, students painted their favorite animal and showed how it gets what it needs to survive. It was a fun and creative way to kick off our Science lessons!

This week, 5th grade Science kicked off with learning all about plant and animal cells! After a week of reading, note-taking, and worksheets, students put their knowledge to the test by creating their own diagrams of either a plant or animal cell. It was a fun way to wrap up our first week of Science and see what they learned!

Third grade started their Saint/Prayer card collection by receiving a St.Augustine prayer card on his feast day!

Second graders became architects and made blueprints. They then took their blueprints and became engineers to create their projects with legos. There was a lot of creativity and problem solving going on!

Our 6th grade math students are expanding their knowledge of order of operations. There was great conversation and detailed work shown. And all groups got the problem correct!

Sixth and fifth grade started working on making mission rosaries today. The mission rosary was created by Ven. Archbishop Fulton Sheen. These mission rosaries will be taken up to Peoria, blessed, and then taken to the Fulton Sheen Beatification Mass to be passed out as part of a larger commission to have 75,000 mission rosaries passed out at the Fulton Sheen Beatification Mass.

Fr. Christopher stopped by our 3rd grade classroom to find out which Saints they have chosen as part of their preparation for confirmation. They were captivated by the stories he was able to provide about the particular Saints the students mentioned. We are so blessed to have such engaging and enthusiastic priests at OLOL!

The Kindergartners recently used homemade Solar Ovens to cook S’mores! What a fun and yummy Science lesson! 😋
