Decatur City Schools will be on a 2- hour delay today due to storms and power outages. This means buses will also run 2 hours later than their normal schedule.

Students will be able to eat breakfast at school when they arrive.

📣 BIG NEWS, BLACK BEARS! 🐻🧡

This school year, Austin Middle School is excited to launch Snackin’ with the SRO!

Led by Officer Schutt, this new initiative is designed to strengthen positive relationships between our students and the Decatur Police Department while recognizing students who consistently make great choices.

Each Student of the Month (October -April) winner will be invited to enjoy snacks and conversation with Officer Schutt in a relaxed, welcoming environment. It’s an opportunity to celebrate leadership, responsibility, respect, and the positive impact our students make every day.

At Austin Middle School, we believe that building strong relationships helps create a safe, supportive school community where every student can thrive.

Science comes to life when you can see it up close! Middle school scientists in Mrs. Free’s class explored how microscopes work using the letter “e,” then practiced depth perception with thread.

Mrs. Burgos’s 7th Grade Accelerated Math class is practicing adding integers using a deck of playing cards! Students draw cards, track each one as a gain or loss, and add it to their running total — a hands-on way to build confidence working with positive and negative numbers.
