Our kindergarteners are busy building those fine-motor skills with two classroom favorites: scissors and play dough! ✨

They’re practicing their zig-zag scissor skills, working on hand control, coordination, and precision as they carefully follow the lines. ✂️📄

Then it’s time for play dough! 👐 Play dough gives little hands a chance to build strength, dexterity, creativity, and coordination while having a whole lot of fun!

These activities may look like play, but our kindergarteners are doing some serious learning! 📚💪

Our 5th graders took their learning beyond the textbook with a Civil War Scavenger Hunt! 🇺🇸

Students worked their way through clues, explored important information, and put their history knowledge to the test—all while having a little fun along the way!

We love seeing our kids learning, collaborating, and making connections in creative ways! ⭐

Oak Park came together for an assembly this morning! Principal Missy Olinger and Assistant Principal Casey Lewis encouraged our students to “Stay the Course” as we begin a new school year.

We celebrated our students’ tremendous growth on the ACAP state test 🎉, reviewed important behavior expectations and school procedures, and talked about the importance of making good choices and staying on track.

And, of course, students were reminded of one of the best ways to grow as a learner:

Decatur City Schools will be on a 2- hour delay today due to storms. This means buses will also run 2 hours later than their normal schedule.

Students will be able to eat breakfast at school when they arrive.

Mrs. Malott caught kindergarten friends being helpful. This friend saw someone struggling to carry her things. She jumped into action, and even helped her with her lunch number.

Our 2nd graders were busy learning through hands-on activities this week! They practiced sight words with a fun game of **Sight Word Oops** and worked on their **graphing skills** along the way. 📊📝

Ms. Dickerson’s first graders had a sweet start to their math learning! They sorted, counted, and organized gummy bears as an introduction to counting collections. 🔢✨
