Upper School parents experienced DHCA in a new way at IGNite on Thursday! With their student’s schedule in hand, parents attended 7 mini-periods to meet each teacher and hear the vision for their subject matter. Mr. Jack Presnell will be teaching Upper School Science. Mr. Presnell earned his Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Auburn University. He also earned a Professional Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of London. For the last ten years, Mr. Presnell has been overseas teaching English and Science in Thailand. It’s wonderful to have Mr. Presnell join our DHCA teaching community! 🦅

Power Up kicked off its weekly chapel meetings for our Lower School students. This time gives faculty and students an opportunity to worship the Lord through singing and a Bible lesson on Wednesday mornings. This year’s theme verse is I Chronicles 29:11, “ Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.”

Upper School parents are invited to attend IGNite (Information Gathering Night) tonight, August 20, at 6:00 pm. IGNite is an opportunity to walk through your child’s daily DHCA schedule. Upon arrival, parents will meet in the cafeteria for a brief introduction and to receive a copy of your student’s schedule. Parents will then be dismissed to experience the classroom for 7 minute mini-periods. We are excited to have parents on campus to get a preview of your child’s school year!

🦅 Upper School parents are invited to attend IGNite (Information Gathering Night) this Thursday, August 20, at 6:00 pm. IGNite is an opportunity to walk through your child’s daily DHCA schedule. 🦅 Mrs. Hannah Henderson will be serving as our Library Coordinator. Mrs. Henderson has a Bachelors in Integrated Marketing and Communication from the University of West Alabama. Currently, she is working on a Masters in Elementary Education through UWA. Her background includes extensive work in marketing, public relations, and communications. She has also served as a 1st grade teacher at Lawrence County Christian School. Her love of for reading, books, and communication makes her a wonderful fit to serve in the library. 🦅 Mr. Patrick Patterson will teach Upper School History and comes to us with wide-ranging experience in education. In his career he has taught English, Social Studies, as well as served in administration. He received his Bachelors from Athens State University, Masters in Educational Administration from University of North Alabama, and his EdS degree from Samford University. Mr. Patterson has worked in the Decatur City School system and the last 21 years in the Morgan County Schools. We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Patterson to our DHCA faculty.

🦅 Mrs. Brooke Culver will be teaching Middle School Math. Mrs. Culver earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of North Alabama. Additionally, she has a Masters in Secondary Education from Western Governors University. Most recently, Mrs. Culver has been working in the Haleyville City Schools system as a Special Education paraprofessional. We are very pleased to welcome Mrs. Culver to our teaching community!
