Well, the severe outlook for today has increased. Mostly tonight.

So, there's a 50/50 chance that it'll happen. Or not happen.

That's the best I got FOR NOW.

Well last night's storms were considerably stronger than expected. And I mean considerably stronger. Trees down all over, mostly in the west end where I am. Power lost to 6,000+ people and heavy rain.

Today's storms for the 4th of July could be another wind event. These straight line wind events are killing us. But the timing for this here in Decatur looks to be in the area of 2-4pm, maybe into the 6pm hour or so.

My official report to CoCoRaHS was 2.54" of rain from the overnight storm. Thay is nuts!

I will try to keep up with it today. I was asleep through last night's storms.

So I won't make many changes. While the radar is showing some different times, the idea is still the same.

Pretty much 1-7 or 8 and the biggest threat of severe weather remains in the same relative area. I think the severe weather BIGGEST threat is off to our south a little, but as we've seen recently, it can pop off anywhere.

Please stay close to your alerts and one big thing... TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!!!

Social Mediarologist update for Father's Day:

I don't forsee a big severe event, however, I do see a fair amount of rain. There is generally a chance of severe weather south of I-72 and down to the tip of the State.

I have supplied some pictures showing the POSSIBILITY of what the radar MIGHT look like at various times through the day. Most of the models were fairly consistent on timing and location.

Looks to be a couple of waves coming in with the biggest potential of severe weather after the 3-5pm range into the early evening. Depending on your location.

The tornado and supercell pictures also show any activity being south of I-72.

There will be some isolated areas of 3+" of rain. Where those will be are up for grabs.

Bottom line is to be prepared to evacuate, know where your shelters are and take cover when needed. Stay close to a weather radio or other ways of getting alerts.

Graphics to come later as models further develop and I have time, but be on the lookout for additional bumpy storms for Sunday affecting the Central Illinois area.

Stay weather aware!
