When my daughters were little, they loved making pinwheels. All you need is sturdy paper, a stick or pencil, art supplies to decorate, scissors and a push pin. They spent hours outside trying to catch the breeze.

A fun summer time activity with your child is making Sidewalk Chalk. It only takes 4 items and you will have your own homemade chalk in 2-3 days.

Making Sidewalk Chalk:
1 Cup of Plaster of Paris,
1/2-3/4 Cup of water
Tempura Paint
Silicone Mold

In a Large bowl mix together the Plaster of Paris and small amounts of water. The mixture should be the consistency of thick pudding. Add in as much paint as you want. Pour mixture into a silicone mold (fun shaped ones or like an ice cub tray). Let sit in a warm sunny place for 2-3 days until the chalk is hard. Remove from the mold carefully.

Every week at Chapel Day Preschool we have a special song that the children learn during circle time. This is one of the students’ favorites.
