Congratulations to April & Haroon who are our graduated 2023 seniors! They are now official alumni to UM-Dearborn PRSSA chapter!💙💛

April has been a part of the chapter since Fall 2021 as well as being in the position of President. She was a huge help to re-establishing the chapter after its hiatus and has been an amazing impact to the chapter. Haroon joined our chapter in Fall 2022 and has been a significant influence on our group.

We are proud of all of your accomplishments and will miss you endlessly! We are saddened to see you go but wish you the best on your next journey in life! 🎓🤍👏🏽

Last up for our new member highlights is our Winter 2023 secretary, Allison Boka! 😊✨

Allison is a communications sophomore.

Her future goal is to complete her bachelors degree and find a job at a local PR agency. She has always been one to root for the underdogs, so she hopes to represent non-profits throughout the course of her career.

We asked Allison a few questions to know the real her…

Q: If you could appear on a game show, which one would it be and why? 🚨
A: If I could be on any game show I would pick Family Feud! My parents and I love watching it together and we are all convinced we would win every round. I think Family Feud would be such a cool memory for my family and I.

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be? 👧
A: If I could give my younger self a piece of advice, I would tell her to embrace being uncomfortable. I have learned most of my life lessons during times of change and I wish I had known that this "uncomfy" feeling is a good thing.

Allison will be transferring to U of M Ann Arbor in the fall, and we wish her the best of luck! 〽️

Our next member highlight is our Winter 2023 VP of Finance, Angela Flores! 🤩

Angela is a communications sophomore who is also minoring in marketing.

Her future goal is to work in the public relations industry that is connected to social media and fashion.

Angela will be continuing on in PRSSA next school year and we can’t wait to see what she does next! 😊

PRSSA pledged half of its fundraised dollars from this year to the student food pantry! 〽️🍴
We donated a total of $325 to the food pantry! Thank you to our student food pantry for helping our students and campus. ❤️

Up next in our member highlights is: Valeria Garcia-Lopez! 🙌

Valeria is a pre-business freshman!

Her future goals are to graduate UM-Dearborn with her BBA in human resources, digital marketing, or small business management. 👩‍💻

Q: Why did you join PRSSA?
I joined PRSSA because I have always been interested in social media marketing content and I wanted to learn more about public relations.

Q: What store would you choose to have a shopping spree in?
Ulta! 💄

Q: What is your favorite all-time TV quote?

Valeria has been with us since the end of the Fall 2022 semester. We cannot wait to see what Valeria has in store for PRSSA in the future! 🤩

As the semester comes to a close, we want to take these last couple of weeks to highlight some of our new members since the restart of UM-Dearborn PRSSA after its hiatus.

Starting first with our ‘OG’ member, Haroon Zahoor! Haroon has been with us for the 2022-2023 school year and has been to almost every single meeting and event! 🤩

Haroon will be graduating this semester with a degree in Business Studies, with a concentration in Communications. 🎓

He plans on becoming a consultant, but is also keeping his options open for PR roles as well. He plans to one day start his own business and travel/photograph the world.

We asked Haroon some questions so that our followers can get to know him more… 🤔

Q: Why did you join PRSSA?
“I joined PRSSA because I had missed out on meeting people during COVID, and I also felt like it would increase my prospects of helping me find a job.”

Q: What is your favorite scent?
“Jasmine.”

Q: What is your best party trick?
“Looking the best at the function.” 👔

As Haroon goes through his post-grad life, we wish him the best of luck on all of his adventures! Haroon has been an amazing part of this chapter since the Fall of 2022, and UM-Dearborn will miss him after graduation! 🥹
