Global Heights Academy opened its doors to students in the fall of 2010, serving K-5th grades, and is a member of the Global Educational Excellence (GEE) family of Academies. We focus on developing the whole student by offering strong character education, an excellent group of certified and enthusiastic teachers, a curriculum that exceeds Michigan standards, small class sizes, and a family-like environment. Rounding out our offerings is a full day kindergarten program, Arabic language program for all grades, as well as an educational after school program. a quality, K through 5th grade educational experience in Dearborn Heights! Be assured that as a public school academy, Global Heights Academy follows the same rigorous state standards required of the traditional public schools. But here at Global Heights, simply meeting the state standards is not good enough; we offer a program that equips all students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in secondary school and beyond. Weekly Update October 5th – October 9th ! 📅

Greetings GHA Families. Here is your weekly update:

COUNT DAY
Wednesday, October 7th marks ALL SCHOOLS COUNT DAY—a really important day for our school community. This is when Michigan's public schools count their enrolled students, and here's why it matters: each student counted means funding that directly supports our classrooms, curriculum, amazing teachers, support staff, interventions, and facility improvements. Every single student makes a difference! 💙

To celebrate and thank everyone for being here on this crucial day, students can dress down (following our dress down guidelines) and enjoy a sweet treat in the afternoon. 🍭 It's our way of saying thank you for helping our school thrive!

HARVEST FEST CANDY

🎃 Get ready for some fun! Our GHA Annual Harvest Fest is coming Friday, October 30th, and your scholar is invited to join in the celebration by grade band that afternoon. We're talking holiday-themed activities and a schoolwide Trick or Treat that's going to be a blast! 🍬

Scholars can dress up in friendly costumes for the day—just have them arrive ready to celebrate rather than changing at school.

To make this event happen, we need a little help from our community. We're looking for volunteers to lend a hand during the festivities—you can sign up through the Schoolwide Dojo spots. We're also asking families to donate candy to keep the treats flowing! 🎉

Candy donations are welcome from October 5th through October 26th. Just drop them off at the office between 7:50 am and 2:30 pm. If your scholar brings treats to school, let the office know so we can collect them safely. Please avoid dropping off candy after 2:30 pm or during Driveline so our office staff can stay organized.

AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION FORMS

📋 After-school activities begin next week, the of October 12th. If parents have already completed the GHA After School Activity Form, then their scholars are already registered. Parents should have received a form confirming their scholar’s registration on Thursday, October 4th. If you did not get a form and you completed a GHA After School Activity Form, please contact the office.

There were additional forms for the K-2 students registered for Cooking Club Session I. There was a Cooking Club Session I letter regarding the $10 fee per scholar to attend the club and an allergy form. Parents, you must complete the allergy forms and submit the $10 fee to Mr. Sanford in the main office by Wednesday, October 7th for your scholar to attend. 📝

PBIS ASSEMBLY EXPECTATIONS
🎉 The first PBIS Assemblies of the year will be held Friday, October 9th in the gym. If your student received an award, you should have received a parent invite from your scholar last Thursday, October 1st. All assemblies are held in the gym. Parents of scholars receiving awards MUST enter through the gym doors. We ask that you sign in and be seated in the chairs along the sides of the gym.

Parents we ask that you refrain from talking while scholars are getting their awards so that they can clearly hear their names and enjoy their shining moments. We want to make sure they enjoy thewy honor they earned!
At the conclusion of each grade band assembly if parents must exit via the gym entrance/exit doors. Parents should not leave the gym to go through the building to go to classrooms, the office or try to exit through the main doors.
If parents would like to take their scholars home after the assembly, a staff member will be waiting there to enter their Driveline numbers; teachers will send the students to the office, and the office staff will watch/walk them out of the front door to their cars in the same manner we do every day at dismissal.
The PBIS Assemblies schedule is as follows
o Grades 6-8 from 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm
o Grades 3-5 from 1:35 pm - 2:05 pm
o Grades K-2 from 2:10 pm - 2:40 pm

Soccer Stars is bringing their popular youth soccer program to our gym! It's a 6-week session for $90 per child, focusing on fun, skill-building, and confidence in a non-competitive environment. Parents handle registration directly with Soccer Stars – just look for the flyer on Dojo and Facebook to sign up.

💃 Mouvement Dance Open Class
Mrs. Chapman is hosting an open class this Monday, September 28th, from 3:45–4:45 pm so families can explore the program together. No enrollment needed to attend – just sign up on the Dojo Calendar so we know your scholar is staying! Parent attendance required.

🎭 Afterschool Activities Launch October 12th
If you submitted the Afterschool Activity Form, your scholar is all set! You'll get a confirmation on Friday, October 4th. Activities run 3:45–4:45 pm daily, and on-time pickup is essential. We've got Mouvement Dance, Tutoring, Hoops and Scoops, Soccer Stars, Cheer, Book Club, Cooking Club, and Choir – something for everyone!

This past Friday our classes went head-to-head for GHA Olympics! 🏃🏽‍♂️🏅From friendly competition to team work and LOTS of school spirit, our students came in ready to represent their classes and go for the gold!

GHA Weekly Updates September 21st - September 25th

This week is packed with exciting opportunities!

🏀 Girls Basketball and Co-Ed Cross Country Track practices are happening Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm for grades 5-8 (Coach Mitchell and Coach Rogers have you covered). Scholars need to be signed up with written parent permission to join in the action.

If your scholar is curious about Mouvement Dance 🩰, there's a special open class next week, Monday, September 28th, from 3:45 to 4:45 pm with Mrs. Chapman. No enrollment needed—just sign up on the Dojo Calendar “Spots” or call Mr. Sanford in the office so we know your scholar is staying.

PARENTS, YOU MUST ATTEND THIS CLASS WITH YOUR SCHOLARS!

Meanwhile, NWEA testing continues through Friday, September 25th for all grades K-8 📝. Make sure your scholar is here every day, well rested, and ready to shine.

Let's show some Lions Pride! 🦁 Our team is counting on our support, so scholars can rock Detroit Lions hoodies, jerseys, and tees Monday, September 21st (uniform bottoms still required, and hats stay home). And don't forget to cheer them on at each game!

More afterschool activities are on the horizon—check back next week for the full lineup and start dates. Most programs kick off the week of October 12th.

The school snack store is open Tuesdays and Thursdays
Friday is a FULL DAY OF SCHOOL and Free Dress is just $1 for a little extra fun! 🎉

What a week it's been! 🎉 Tomorrow we're ending on a high note with our GHA Olympics! 🏆 Each class will go head-to-head against its grade-level partner, and we need every scholar there to cheer, compete, and bring home the glory for their class! 💪

Quick reminders before the big day: Tomorrow is a half day (just 1 of 6 for the whole year!), so let's make it count. WE MUST MAKE OUR ATTENDANCE PERCENTAGE!

Quick update! 🏃 Cross-country track practice is off the schedule today.

However, 🏀 girls' basketball practice is still happening from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the gym — but only for those who have already registered for the team. If your scholar hasn't signed up yet, they need to be picked up at dismissal today. There will be a separate Dojo message sent to those female scholars who are registered for girls' basketball. See you on the court! 💪
