Detroit kids say, “Thank you” to Eagles for Children.

Again, we thank Eagles for Children and Trott Law for our incredible day today at two Detroit Public Schools. In the morning, we visited Mark Twain and, in the afternoon, we performed for a young audience at Coleman A. Young. We received a warm welcome at both schools! Teachers were given many books to take back to their classrooms. At the first school, a preschool teacher was walking out with us and said how grateful she was for the new books, since one of the classrooms only had some ancient tattered books. Fortunately, we had more in the car, and loaded her up, along with the Little Free Library in front of the school. At the second school, the children spontaneously chanted, “ I do care, I do care!”during the story of Pierre. Today was a glorious ending to the school season for MCT!

Thank you Eagles for Children & Trott Law! Today we promoted literacy at Gesu in Detroit. Eagles for Children funded the performance and Trott Law provided brand new books to give to the children. Jeff Weissermann joined us today, representing both organizations, and graciously handed out books to the eager young readers. We are so grateful for the support of our mission- bringing great literature to life and helping children realize the power of their imaginations and books. Just look at the joy on their faces!

“Preaching Boot Camp” wrapped up yesterday at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. What a privilege to work with these gents on their public speaking skills. They presented their practice homilies at two different churches this week, Divine Child and St. Paul on the Lake. Best wishes to these incredible men as they continue their journey towards priesthood.

It is a great privilege to serve the seminarians at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Catherine leads the preaching Boot Camp focusing on vocalization, interpretation, relaxation techniques, and preparation. Today’s theme was “Creativity with Scripture.” The gentlemen prayed with our Five-Finger Prayer and used their imaginations during a Lexio Divina meditation. In the afternoon, after participating in a performance of the “Parable Project,” Amy gave a breathing and vocal lesson, while Lise led a physical warm up, which included stretching to the Lord‘s Prayer. Together we created sculptures to represent vices and virtues. It certainly was a creative and fun day exploring Scripture using the imagination. The Boot Camp will conclude at the end of the week, when the young men will deliver their practice homilies at a few local churches.

Actors really can be just a bunch of playful kids!

It was a special blessing to perform “Surrender” to culminate the year with the Faith Formation students and their families at Immaculate Conception Church in Ira on Monday evening. It was unique to perform in the center of the gym. After the performance, the families enjoyed hotdogs, chips and Popsicles to celebrate the end of the year. We are grateful and blessed to return to this beautiful community.
