We had an amazing Day of Service this year! A huge thank you to everyone who came out and helped the community, your efforts made a difference! A very special thank you as well to anyone who donated or participated in the book drive; thanks to you, we were able to donate 2,400 books to The Capital Area Literacy Coalition (), who will put them to work towards eliminating illiteracy in the local community. Congrats on a great Day of Service, everyone!!! 💙 💛

Dewitt community members: are you or someone you know who lives in the Dewitt area in need of lawn or household cleanup? NHS’s annual Day of Service is on Tuesday, April 22nd this year. This is a day where our members will be making their volunteerism known by spending the day out in the community volunteering. If you or someone you know would benefit, please fill out the form by clicking on the link listed below or scanning the QR code in this post. The form will be available until April 17th, or until we have exceeded our capacity.

T-Shirts are now available for order on Revtrak! The price per shirt is $8, and orders are due by March 27th (3/27). It is highly encouraged each member gets one, as we will be wearing these on Day of Service. Contact Claire McIntire at [email protected] with any questions!

Have some extra kids books lying around? Need some service hours? Then consider donating to the book drive! All books donated should be children’s books (grades K-5) and will go to local kids in the area. There are three drop off locations: The Dewitt District Library, Family Tree Cafe, and right in the Dewitt High School commons. Make sure to get all donations in before bins are pulled on March 14th (3/14). Service hours are capped at two hours and are honor system based, they must be entered on Helper Helper with a picture of donations for credit. These hours WILL count as NHS sponsored. We need lots of books, so please spread the word and encourage people you know to donate.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 2/15) is the annual NHS Shovel and Shuffle. Get outside and help a neighbor shovel their driveway (this cannot be your own house)! These hours will count as NHS sponsored; you will need to separately log them in Helper Helper and submit a picture along with it. A picture is REQUIRED in order to be credited for your hours, so don’t forget!

Help fight the critical blood shortage and sign up to donate blood right now! The drive will be hosted at the high school and there are still a ton of slots available to fill, ranging anywhere from 9:20-1:20. Encourage a friend or a relative to sign up or sign up yourself at versiti.org!
