I’ve been wanting to share this for a while, especially for anyone newer to yoga.
Somewhere along the way, yoga got packaged into workout classes, leggings, playlists, and hour-long flows, and the deeper practice can get buried underneath all of that.
But asana, the physical practice most of us think of as “yoga,” is only one part of a much bigger path.
Yoga also asks us to look at how we treat other people, how we treat ourselves, how we breathe, where we place our attention, how we respond to discomfort, and how we move through the world.
The poses matter. The movement matters. But they were never meant to be the whole thing.
The eight-limbed path is one framework for understanding the fuller practice, and this is just a little introduction to it. 🤎
If you’re newer to yoga, I hope this gives you permission to see the practice as something much bigger, and much more personal than an hour on a mat.
