STEM FEST RECAP!!!! Thank you to all our volunteers for helping out this past Saturday! We had a successful turnout. For those who don’t know, STEM FEST is a celebration of all things science, technology, engineering, and math. Amazingly, COMDSA falls under that category, so we get to participate in this annual event!! Organizations at NIU and others in the community come together and host all sorts of hands-on activities for guests of all ages, most of which are families and their young children and many middle school field trips. At the COMDSA booth, we had so many fun activities!! We decided this year that we were going to make our own sound booth to lead into audiology awareness month! Through our monitor and microphone, those who participated could see what their voice looked like! We also made fun sound waves out of colorful pipe cleaners and had kids make their own sound waves. Along with that, we also used the International Phonetic Alphabet and transcribed the names of those who stopped by our booth! This was super fun because those who don’t know IPA thought their names looked awesome (which they did, IPA symbols are so cool). We got to see some faculty, alumni, and current SLP’s and Audiologists! It was so fun seeing the joy that the sound booth and our other activities brought to those who stopped at our booth. We all had so much fun, and we look forward to next year!!!
