This morning, West DeFuniak Elementary was treated to a very special act of kindness from one of our very own students, Little Miss DeFuniak Springs 2026, Piper Laughlin!

Piper generously delivered several Piper’s Packs, a heartfelt service project she created to provide children with sensory and comfort items while promoting autism awareness and acceptance.
Each thoughtfully prepared pack included noise-canceling headphones, fidgets, sensory tools, and a special note from Piper herself.

Piper’s kindness, compassion, and desire to make a difference are a beautiful reminder that even the smallest hearts can have the biggest impact.

Thank you, Piper, for sharing your heart, spreading kindness, and helping make West DeFuniak Elementary an even more welcoming place for every child!

Buckle up!! We’re taking our district’s flight theme on the road!

Today, Maude Saunders Elementary and West DeFuniak Elementary celebrated our amazing bus drivers with a special breakfast as we launched our new bus driver incentive PASSPORTS!

Each month, drivers will work toward a passport “stamp” by maintaining zero behavior referrals on their routes. It’s a fun way to recognize and reward our drivers while encouraging safe, respectful, positive behavior from our students.

The journey matters just as much as the destination and positive behavior starts the moment students board the bus! When drivers, students, families, and schools all work together, we can help our students reach new heights! Fasten your seatbelts… this year, we’re flying high!

Destination: Positive Behavior.

✨ What a great first day! ✨

Yesterday was a wonderful start to the new school year! We loved seeing our hallways and classrooms filled with smiling faces and excitement! We are so happy to have our students back at WDE and are looking forward to an amazing year together! Here’s to a great school year! 🎉
