Happy 78th Birthday to Billy Crystal, Born March 14, 1948 🎉 He first starred in the sitcom Soap (1977–1981), where he played Jodie Dallas. In 1984 he joined Saturday Night Live, where his Fernando Lamas parody gave us the classic catchphrase: “You look mahvelous!” He also starred in several memorable 80s movies including Running Scared with Gregory Hines in 1986, The Princess Bride in 1987 as Miracle Max, and Throw Momma from the Train with Danny DeVito in 1987. His biggest 80s role came in When Harry Met Sally… in 1989.

Happy 77th birthday to Erik Estrada, born March 16, 1949!

Estrada became a pop culture icon as Officer Frank “Ponch” Poncherello on the hit TV series CHiPs (1977–1983), where his motorcycle-riding highway patrolman helped make the show one of the most recognizable action series of the late ’70s and early ’80s.

🌙🍔 Mac Tonight Debuted at McDonald’s 40 Years Ago in 1986

With a crescent-moon head, sunglasses, and a jazzy piano tune, Mac Tonight became one of the coolest fast-food mascots of the late 80s.

The moon-faced crooner was performed by actor Doug Jones, with vocals by Brock Walsh, singing a parody of the classic song “Mack the Knife.”

Originally created to boost McDonald’s dinner and late-night sales in Southern California, the character became so popular the campaign went national in 1987.

But the smooth-talking moon didn’t last forever. Mac Tonight disappeared after a lawsuit from singer Bobby Darin’s estate, which argued the ads used a version of “Mack the Knife” too similar to Darin’s famous recording.

I'm sure I didn't get all the jokes, but I remember watching Three's Company, especially reruns, back in the day!

Fun Fact 1: Did you know that the woman who distracts Jack Tripper when he falls off his bike in the Season 1 intro is Suzanne Somers in a wig?

Fun Fact 2: The theme "Come And Knock On Our Door" was written by Joe Raposo, who also wrote the Sesame Street theme and the classic songs "Bein' Green" and "C is for Cookie"!
