Delaware County Toastmasters This is the place to be if you want to get better at public speaking, whether for work or social situations! Free for visitors! Visitors are always welcome!!!

We are a mix of newbies and veteran speakers, all eager to share encouragement and gentle feedback. This club welcomes everyone and anyone (16 yrs and up) who is interested in developing their public speaking and leadership skills. We take turns preparing and delivering speeches, and we share honest, polite feedback.

Hello friends and followers! Our next meeting will be at 7 pm at 212 W. Springfield Rd in Springfield, PA. We meet in the Covenant United Methodist Church.

Many of us Toastmasters strive to sound more authoritative at work and elsewhere. One technique for doing this is by *not* trying to sound polite. Hello Followers! Our next meeting will be tomorrow night, Wednesday, Sep. 16, 7-9 pm.
People join Toastmasters for all sorts of reasons. Many people who join are non-native English speakers who want to gain confidence presenting in English. Toastmasters provides a great opportunity to work on that. Here's a video that shares tips on how non-native speakers can improve their English pronunciation. Hope to see you at our meeting!

Next meeting is Wed. Sept 2, 7 pm. Guests are welcome!
One thing we work on at Toastmasters is pausing. In everyday speaking, most of us get interrupted a lot. We avoid pausing, because that creates an opening for more interruptions. But when we make a speech, we don't get interrupted nearly as much. That's when pauses can really help. Watch this video to see the power of the pause. And then visit Delaware County Toastmasters to practice pausing.

Just two days til our next meeting! For this meeting, guests and members will be welcome to give a short speech (1-3 mins) based on the topic below. The aim isn't to deliver a polished speech, but rather to tell a story as you would to friends. Participation is totally optional, no pressure.

" PLOT TWIST: Prepare a 1-3 minute tale about unexpected developments. Comedies turned tragic, and curses turned to blessings. When your best friend becomes your mortal enemy, or your least favorite person becomes the love of your life. The mundane day that turned into a wild adventure. Glow-ups, curveballs, hidden motives, hand of god interventions, and shocking revelations. Didn’t see that coming! "
