Our research indicates that this group is untapped and has not received the level of recognition for their contributions that they should have been afforded. Each year as teams congregate in unofficial reunions, there is a request to gather information on former team mates and coaches. The formation of an official Wildcat Lettermen’s Club will create a database of rosters, a network of support for former Wildcats and inevitably an opportunity to reconnect to the university by promoting the welfare of all Bethune-Cookman University athletic programs. The Lettermen’s Club places special emphasis on the recognition of former outstanding athletes at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet and rewards current athletes with Block B Letters. In 2009, we reinstated the senior athlete awards to those seniors who have lettered. All members are encouraged to participate in the Lettermen’s Club by volunteering to serve on the board, and by encouraging fellow Lettermen to join the club.
