Myth: Everyone already knows it's happening so it must be fine.

Truth: The concept of Group Think is a psychological phenomenon where someone may conceal their opinion if it differs from a crowd or from those in the positions of power. In order to "fit in" and remain likable, one may side with beliefs they do not hold and remain silent in areas where they deemed the ideas of the majority to be wrong.

Myth: Hazing can be OK if the orientees are "safe".

Truth: Someone can be physically safe while still enduring mental and emotional trauma.

Myth: Keeping the "tradition" is important enough to continue hazing.

Truth: As time passes and new information comes to light, traditions and culture must adapt. Over the years, more affiliated people have come clean in the media about their negative experiences with hazing and the dangers of these activities have been noted. We don't want to hurt our brothers/sisters/team mates/colleagues so now we must adapt and grow.

Myth: Hazing is an effective way to teach respect and develop discipline.

Truth: Making someone uncomfortable or forcing to do something they don't want to do will actually make them lose respect for you. Hazing is not respectable.
