Happy ! 🌅Catching an early morning sunrise on Nov. 9, 2018, is this week’s $25 Campus Classics Flag Friday winner, 1st Lt. Paul Renart, EMBRY-RIDDLE (DAYTONA BEACH) 2015, left, and Capt. Steven Turner, EMBRY-RIDDLE (DAYTONA BEACH) 2010, who are both serving in the 106th Rescue Wing at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Suffolk County, New York. “The plane seen in the picture is now resting in the ‘boneyard’, but we were able to get one last picture with the *legacy* HC-130 prior to it making its final voyage and before we welcomed in the newest HC-130J. I’m brand new to the unit, but Capt. Turner is very seasoned with the 106th [Rescue Wing]. Similar to the new generation of aircraft, this shows a Sigma Chi ushering in another Sigma Chi to start creating their own legacy,” writes Renart. The Eta Iota Undergrads had a great few days at BLTW! It was nice running into alumni from the chapter that were participating as facilitators and members of team Balfour. We took a lot away from the experience and are looking forward to implementing some of the new ideas this coming fall.

Thirty Sigma Chi chapters from across North America were recently recognized for raising $20,000 or more from Aug. 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017, to support the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). The recognition came at the annual $20K Club induction ceremony at HCI on July 10 in Salt Lake City.
Of the chapters recognized this year, those at Georgia Southern University and the University of Utah raised more than $60,000, garnering a spot in what is called the $50K Club.
The 30 chapters in the $20K Club raised more than $850,000 collectively, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total funds Sigma Chis raised for HCI in the 2016 to 2017 campaign.
“Making it into the $20K Club has become a goal that chapters strive for,” says Brandon Plewe, UTAH 2006, development officer at the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. “Raising $20,000 and joining the 20K Club is a great way to show off a chapter’s elite fundraising program.”
HCI established the 20k Club in 2014 to honor seven Sigma Chi chapters that went above and beyond their fundraising goals by raising more than $20,000 at each of their schools.
