2024 Nursing Pinning Ceremony.

Congratulations to Faith Clavin, Keyana Clark, Christelle Geffrard, Elizabeth Uyong, and the entire Nursing Class of Spring 2024!

Hail Wildcats!

Held on May 2, 2024, in the President’s Banquet Room of the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center, the Bethune-Cookman University School of Nursing’s Pinning Ceremony was a poignant event that marked the official initiation of the Nursing Class of Spring 2024 into the nursing profession. Led by College Nursing and Health Sciences Dean Sandra Tucker, the ceremony included several symbolic rituals, each representing the graduates’ preparedness and commitment to the nursing profession. The Pinning Ceremony itself served as a symbolic welcome to the newly-graduated nurses, signifying their achievement of completing educational requirements and their transition into the professional realm of nursing. The Blessing of the Hands held profound significance, acknowledging the importance of human touch in nursing and healthcare while also honoring the spiritual aspects inherent in the care provided by nurses. Lighting the Lamp and Passing the Flame paid tribute to nursing’s tradition of selfless dedication, with the lamp representing guidance and care provided by generations of caregivers. Finally, the Nursing Pledge underscored the ethics and principles that define the nursing profession. In honor of , we celebrate Dr. Mae Jemison's (not pictured) groundbreaking legacy! As the first Black woman in space, she shattered boundaries and proved that we should "Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations." Today, Black nurse continue to push boundaries in healthcare, providing compassionate care and advocating for health equity. Let's honor their contributions and allow their stories inspire us all to dream big and chase our wildest aspirations.
