Our Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program has earned an A+ rating from the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) for excellence in preparing future teachers to teach reading! πβ
This national recognition highlights the incredible work of our faculty and students in mastering the science of reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehensionβthe building blocks that help children become successful readers for life.

πβ¨ Celebrating a Major Milestone for the School of Education at Daytona State College! β¨π
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the first graduating cohort of Daytona State Collegeβs βGrow Your Ownβ and Teacher Apprenticeship Program! Eight dedicated paraprofessionals from Brevard and Volusia County Schools have officially earned their Bachelor of Science in Education degrees while continuing to work full-time in the classrooms they already serve. ππ
This groundbreaking program, supported through the statewide Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant, creates meaningful pathways for future educators by removing barriers and allowing candidates to earn their degrees through fully online coursework combined with hands-on classroom experience alongside mentor teachers.
π Five graduates completed the Teacher Apprenticeship Program in Exceptional Student Education, while three completed the Grow Your Own Elementary Education residency pathway.
These graduates balanced careers, coursework, field experiences, and certification exams with determination and heart β and today they step forward as fully certified teachers ready to make an immediate impact on studentsβ lives.

Our graduates from the Daytona State College School of Education walked across the stage with pride, passion, and some of the most BEAUTIFUL graduation caps we have ever seen!
