🍕📚 Assessment Class Gives the HOPE Center Resource Fair an A+! 📚🍕

Today, students in Dr. Ringue's Classroom Assessment class took learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the HOPE Center Resource Fair at Daytona State College. Between exploring campus resources, connecting with partners, and enjoying some pizza, students discovered that support services and free food are a winning combination!

By the look of the smiles, fun was had by all. 🍕😊

🎓✨ Career exploration in action at Flagler Palm Coast High School! ✨🎓

Dr. Blaine from the DSC School of Education had such a fun time visiting Ms. Giaccone’s Employability and Job Attainment Skills class at Flagler Palm Coast High School today for their Career Showcase! 💼🌟

Her freshman students have been working hard to research careers that interest them, learning what those careers involve, what skills and education are needed, and what it takes to pursue those career paths.

Today, they put their research and presentation skills to work by sharing their careers of choice and talking about everything those careers entail. It was so much fun hearing these high school freshmen talk about their interests, goals, and what they can see themselves doing in the future! ❤️

They did a fantastic job practicing their communication and presentation skills while sharing what they learned. And honestly…hearing these students talk about their future careers was so much fun and absolutely adorable! 🥰👏

We love opportunities like this that give high school students the chance to explore their passions, discover new possibilities, and begin thinking about the future. Thank you, Ms. Giaccone, for inviting Dr. Blaine to be part of such a fun and meaningful Career Showcase! 🌟💼🎓

🎓💙 REAL TALK. REAL FAMILIES. REAL IMPACT.

Professor Diefendorf’s class had some VERY special guests today! ✨

Lucy, her mom Stacy, and her brother Emory joined us to give our future educators an inside look at what it is really like to be differently abled in Volusia County Schools. From classroom supports to the incredible work of teachers and paraprofessionals, they shared personal experiences and practical ways future educators can make sure EVERY student feels supported, included, and valued. 🧑‍🏫❤️

Lucy brought her own special brand of sweet AND sassy to the classroom, while Emory shared his perspective as a student navigating school with his own unique needs. And Stacy gave our future teachers an honest look at what it is like raising these amazing kiddos and why communication, collaboration, and strong relationships between families and schools matter SO much. 💬🤝

The biggest takeaway? Listen. Communicate. Collaborate. And get to know the student behind the IEP. 📚💙

Our future educators left with more than notes today. They left with real stories, real perspectives, and a better understanding of how they can make a difference in the lives of their future students.

A HUGE thank you to Lucy, Emory, and Stacy for sharing your family, your experiences, and your wisdom with us! We are so grateful! 🥰

Today was a GREAT day in Professor Diefendorf’s class! 👏📚

We had the pleasure of welcoming Sandy Green, who spent an incredible 25 years as a Behavior Specialist with Volusia County Schools, to the School of Education!

Sandy shared her expertise on behavior management, data tracking, supporting students with behavioral needs, and practical strategies for working with children who may be experiencing behavioral challenges. Most importantly, she shared the real stories, experiences, and “tricks of the trade” that only come from years in the field. ❤️

It was such a pleasure to hear her stories, learn from her experiences, and give our future educators the opportunity to learn from someone who has spent decades supporting students and teachers.

Thank you, Sandy, for sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion with our future educators! We are so grateful you took the time to pour into our students! 🍎💙

Are you a Daytona State College student looking for a meaningful way to earn volunteer or service-learning hours while making a difference in the life of a young learner? 🌟

The Early Learning Coalition of Flagler & Volusia is looking for volunteers to become Reading Buddies! Volunteers spend approximately 1–2 hours per week working with VPK students through fun, play-based literacy activities designed to build early reading skills and confidence. 📖✨

This is a great opportunity for students pursuing Education, Psychology, Social Work, Speech-Language, and related fields—and no teaching experience is required! All materials and guidance are provided.

Mr. & Ms. Mentoring in Daytona Beach is seeking volunteer mentors and tutors who are passionate about helping youth succeed. Volunteers can support students academically in areas such as math, science and reading, while also providing encouragement, guidance and positive mentorship.
