Thank you for helping keep our scholars safe!

Safer routes to school are on the way.

Being able to walk or bike safely to your neighborhood school is one of the most important parts of a healthy childhood. It builds independence, confidence, and a connection to community that stays with our children for life. We are happy to see this project coming to life for our students and their families.

The city is moving forward with Phase 1 of the Safe Routes to School project, which will improve pedestrian access and safety around Campbell Middle School and Turie T. Small Elementary School.

The work includes new concrete sidewalks five to eight feet wide on streets around the schools, including Keech Street and Cedar Street. Improvements also include ADA compliant ramps with detectable warnings, accessible driveways, curb and gutter, updated signage, pavement markings, and sod.

During construction, the city and contractor will work closely with both schools to keep walking routes safe and limit impacts on arrival and dismissal, parent drop off and pickup, bus operations, and student crossings.

Thank you to our team, our school partners, and everyone who helped make this possible. Our children deserve safe, accessible paths to school, and this is an important step forward.

🎒 **6TH GRADE — RED OUT!** 🔴
📚 **7TH GRADE — WHITE OUT!** ⚪
🎓 **8TH GRADE — BLUE OUT!** 🔵

Every Friday, **WEAR YOUR GRADE’S COLOR** and show your team spirit during lunch! The grade level with the **MOST participation** will claim the Color Wars victory and earn **BRAGGING RIGHTS ALL WEEK LONG!** 🏆😤

So now the question is…

👀 **6th Grade, are y’all showing up in RED?**
