Summer 2026: Donโt Leave Your Housing Allowance to Chance!
Summer semester is "non-standard," which means the VAโs rules for full-time status are DIFFERENT than FAFSA or Wright Sโs usual rules. If you want that full MHA (Monthly Housing Allowance), you need to plan your schedule carefully!
๐
The Dates You Need to Know:
Full Term (C): May 18 โ Aug 6
A Term: May 18 โ June 25
B Term: June 29 โ Aug 6
May and August are prorated months. There is also a small gap (June 26โ28) between A and B terms that may affect your pay.
๐ How to Qualify as "Full-Time" for the VA:
Undergrad Students (Pick one):
8+ credits in the Full Term (C)
4 credits in Full Term + 3 credits in BOTH A & B
4 credits in A Term AND 4 credits in B Term
Graduate Students:
4+ credits in the Full Term (C)
2+ credits in an A or B term
๐ Don't Forget the Paperwork!
New Students: Fill out the Initial Contact Form.
Everyone: You MUST complete the Veteran Enrollment Report (VER) every single semester you want to use benefits.
Questions? We know this is confusingโwe are here to explain it so you donโt miss out on your benefits!

We hope your Spring Break was restful! As we gear up for the rest of the semester, itโs already time to look toward Summer 2026.
Summer enrollment can be confusing, because the VA sees Summer differently than Financial Aid (FAFSA) does. To make sure you get your full MHA and avoid any "no one told me" moments, please read these guidelines carefully.
๐
The Summer Timeline
Full Term (C): May 18 โ Aug 6
A Term (6 weeks): May 18 โ June 25
B Term (6 weeks): June 29 โ Aug 6
โ ๏ธ Note: There is a 3-day gap (June 26โ28) between A and B terms that may be pro-rated. May and August are also pro-rated months.
๐ How to be "Full-Time" for the VA
To get your FULL Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA), you must meet these specific credit hour counts:
Undergraduate Students (Pick one):
8 credit hours in the Full Term (C).
4 credits in Full Term (C) PLUS 3 credits in both A and B terms.
4 credits in A Term AND 4 credits in B Term.
Graduate Students:
4+ credit hours in the Full Term (C).
2+ credit hours in an A or B term.
๐ Don't Forget!
New Students: Fill out the Initial Contact Form.
Returning Students: You MUST complete the Veteran Enrollment Report (VER) for the Summer.
Take care of yourself: Transitioning back is toughโwe're here if you need a hand, a place to hangout, or resources if things are too overwhelming.
Questions? Don't guess! Email us at [email protected] or call 937-775-5550.
