Sinclair Community College and SNC, the global aerospace and defense company, were joined today by Lt. Governor Jim Tressel to announce the launch of the “SNC-Sinclair Academy,” establishing the Dayton region’s first employer co-designed aviation workforce pipeline.

“This partnership between SNC and Sinclair Community College is exactly the kind of collaboration that strengthens Ohio’s workforce and keeps our state moving forward. Students succeed when employers and educators stay connected to what’s happening in the real world and work together to prepare young people for the opportunities ahead," said Lt. Governor Jim Tressel.

We are proud to celebrate 10 years of the UD Sinclair Academy. Since its launch, more than 250 students have earned affordable bachelor’s degrees through this partnership, with the majority choosing to stay in Dayton and contribute to our region’s growth. The Academy’s dual admissions process and strong graduation rates continue to open doors for students and families across our community.

Congressman Mike Turner recently visited Sinclair Community College to congratulate the institution on being named one of the Top 25 community colleges in the nation and for advancing as a contender for the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. Congressman Turner remarked, "Sinclair's commitment to excellence has transformed countless lives and strengthened our local economy." This recognition highlights Sinclair’s ongoing leadership in student achievement, workforce development, and making quality education accessible to all.

At a special ceremony at UD’s Kennedy Union Ballroom, we welcomed the Academy class of ’26, with 55 students set to transition from Sinclair to UD this fall. As President, Dr. Steve Johnson says, “We are removing barriers and creating a seamless, affordable pathway for our students to achieve their dreams.” With affordable tuition and high-quality education, students are better prepared for success in our local workforce.
