Well, school is in! It doesn't seem like summer is coming to an end, the camels are coming, hot air balloons and all the other signs of fall! I think of apples, pumpkins and the smells of soup on the stove with fresh hot breads coming out of the oven! The kids love the simplicity of soups and fresh breads! My school children can't wait to come to my house after school and try the soup of the day we made! They talk about the excitement of all the events going on in Virginia City, it's hard for them to concentrate on school and the sports teams as they settle into their routines. Our little ones who are now, Kindergarteners try and get used to new shoes and leaving Moms and Dads behind to get on the bus. I almost think the parents have a harder time than the little ones but when they walk in my door at the end of the day they just want familiar snack foods and the comforts of home and Mom and Dad. Time goes by so fast and our worlds are never the same. Now that my grandchildren are out in the world doing their adult lives I try to console parents and children with soup and fresh bread! I hope that everyone settles in for the fall and enjoy watching your little ones begin their journey through school!

Today was a very sad day for people I know and love and myself. We were reminded that life is not guaranteed, and we should tell people we love them and pick up the phone and connect because you never know when the Lord will call us home. Through the years my daughters were selective with their friends, so I knew most of them if they brought them around. I'd feed them, laugh with them and listen to them talk about life. When you have a circle of friends which you see each weekend you get to know them, and there is always that one child that just makes you smile. This young man was so funny, kind, caring and always brought a light that shined from him just walking in my house. He came over and this guy always had a different car for the evening. My favorite one, way back when was his lowered truck the whole group would bring their lowered vehicles and park behind McDonalds in Carson. I always knew where they were. The jokes and laughter could be heard long before you saw them. The same young man would show up with a friend and ask what I was doing, or how's your car? Always willing to help others. Time went by some moved, some married and they all grew up. But Boo's laughter never faded! His heart was so big and he had such a sweet soul! He would stop by my house and say hi and we would talk like it was just yesterday when we last talked. He got married, and life went on he had 2 sons who he was so proud of. Sergio was a good Dad; he loved those boys and when he got married to Jen he had 4 children 3 boys and a girl. One day he came over I had a problem with my little truck. He asked what's wrong and I shook my head. He just jumped in, started the truck and said I'll be back. He brought it back after tinkering with it and we hung out talking with both of them. They were a good couple so in love they would play off each others comments and make me laugh so hard. Boo had a smile and a laugh that would light up your heart! They left to go back home with Jen and said just call me if you need anything I will come! I would see him at the store and other places always with his smile and hug. Today, we lost Boo and Jen in a car accident that shouldn't of happened but it did. They were called home to Heaven hand in hand. Way too young, and they were both full of life, hands full of promises of future days. But it wasn't to be, I said a little prayer to God as I wiped away tears, Lord, I guess you needed Boo to direct cars in heaven and Jen to laugh at Boo's jokes I'm glad they are together, so they can watch over the children from up above. Life is so short, it was too soon for them to go, we will miss you both Boo and Jen! Thank you for sharing your lives with me.

Our sugar snap peas are growing fast and our sunflowers are reaching for the sky! It has been nice and warm, and children have been enjoying the outside play yard. All my families have taken their little gardens home, and I am excited for everyone will enjoy our sugar snap peas! It's hard to believe that it is almost July why does it go so fast? It's exciting that all the kids are out of school and running wild! Before we know it there will be pumpkins in the air, I love fall but I am not ready for it yet! This will be my last fall of going to school as long as I keep my head on right, graduation is around the corner. I hope everyone has a great summer and remember sunscreen, hat and water!

I can remember the first Earth Day in 1970 it was big ! We celebrated all day at school and on the weekend there was major outside events. Does anyone feel like it is not the same now? I try and educate the kiddos about things they can do to help our world last long enough that their children will here and enjoying wildlife .We researched the giraffe and founf out that they had a terrible year lots of poaching just for the hell of it, just shooting them then letting them leave to rot. So we reached out to several zoo's. We found out that the zoo's try to have a calf a year but it's very difficult. In the wild the numbers are low not from animal predators but humans. I don't understand why people have to shoot them. If anyone would like to donate to our fund for giraffe we are connected to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this is a beautiful zoo and their enclosures are big and the animals are really taken care of. The Smithsonium National Zoo and The Bronx Zoo are very involved With the Giraffes. We watched a video of a giraffe at the Colorado Springs Cheyenne Moutain Zoo and the children were great but when that baby fell 5 feet to the floor of the enclosure they were like Oh what happened why? We sent a letter to the zoo but its too soon to know.
Other news we are rearranging our space and looking for people who might need kids stuff I probly will be a while until I know all that i have but we'd like to donate. I will post items before I dispose of anything. We hope everyone is doing well I have heard that our area is growing so fast that looks like we will be very busy through to next year.Isn't it crazy to think that it takes 37,900 gallons of fresh water to build one new car.? The article didn't say what kind of car but it's crazy the amount of water. Have a great week and be careful out there with that new light in Dayton.
