The agency's program outcomes focus on school readiness for children ages birth to five. Each child is assessed at the beginning of the school year and periodically throughout the year. Results are regularly reviewed and tabulated to determine each child’s progress and what is required to assist in their continued development. The program targets most of its services toward families of low income.

MVCDC Head Start provides children and families with high-quality early learning experiences, family support services, health and developmental screenings, and opportunities for family engagement.
Current families should have begun completing re-enrollment updates with family support specialists and home visitors to secure placement for next year. Re-enrollment helps our program:
✓ Plan classroom placements and staffing
✓ Prepare support services
✓ Ensure a smooth transition into the new school year
Please make sure all requested documents and updates are submitted to your Family Services staff.

May is recognized as National Foster Care Month by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, a time to honor foster families, kinship caregivers, and the many adults who provide safe, nurturing, and supportive homes for children. At MVCDC Head Start, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, supported, and connected. Our program is committed to partnering with families in ways that are welcoming, respectful, and strength-based.
Head Start programs work closely with families and caregivers to support:
• Children’s healthy development and learning
• Consistent routines and strong relationships
• Emotional well-being and social connections
• Access to community resources and support services
• Smooth transitions between home, school, and care settings
We also recognize the important role foster parents, grandparents, relatives, and kinship caregivers play in helping children feel loved and secure. Small moments of connection like reading together, sharing meals, talking, and playing, help build trust and belonging.
