Well... This stinks. For everyone's situation awareness, this morning we have had to implement a temporary fuel surcharge of $4 an hour. DAS and the airpark are optimistic this fuel rate will only be for a very short time.

CONGRATULATIONS to DAS student/intern/dispatcher Lilly Green who has graduated from Oakwood High School this week! Lilly will be attending Sinclair Community College to study Professional Aviation. We are lucky to have her in the DAS family.

"HIGHER, ORVILLE, HIGHER!"

On this day in Aviation History: Orville Wright famously flew with his 82-year-old father, Bishop Milton Wright, on May 25, 1910, at Huffman Prairie. The nearly seven-minute flight reached an altitude of about 350 feet, prompting the elderly Milton to gleefully shout over the engine, "Higher, Orville. Higher!"

Also on this day, Wilbur and Orville fly together for the only time in a six-and-one-half minute flight.

The DAS Schoolhouse office will be on standown Monday, May 25,in observance of Memorial Day, Flight operations will continue as usual, by appointment.

100 Years Ago today in Aviation History; President Coolidge signs the Air Commerce Act into law.

This law requires all pilots and planes in the United States to be licensed and registered, as the United States currently has a barnstorming fad, in which unlicensed pilots fly stunts for money or prestige.
