Sustained student effort brings pollinator garden to campus 05/24/2026

On April 22, 2026, the students of SEES — Students for Earth and Environmental Sustainability — welcomed a new pollinator garden to campus. It’s populated with native flowers, a petrified log and rock path, a few Adirondack chairs for comfortable studying, and an oak tree fully invested in providing future shade.

The site is between the Russ Engineering Center and the Student Union, and it was formerly home to a community vegetable garden. The space is seeded with drought-resistant plants — milkweed, coneflower, decorative grasses — all designed to draw in butterflies and bees while giving students a reason to sit and study outside for a while.

Wright State Newsroom – Wright State University leads $2.5 million federal initiative to bring AI education to rural Ohio « Wright State University 05/08/2026

Wright State University has been awarded a $2.5 million federal grant to develop new AI-focused curriculum, train educators to teach it and build advanced AI tools to power it — with the goal of expanding artificial intelligence literacy from rural schools through colleges and into the workforce.

The effort brings together faculty from two Wright State colleges: the College of Engineering and Computer Science will contribute technical expertise and experience teaching with AI, while the College of Health, Education and Human Services will focus on pedagogy and teacher preparation.

The project will teach educators how to use AI tools in their classrooms while building their understanding of core AI concepts. In addition to developing curriculum, the project will provide professional development for educators beginning this summer, helping them integrate AI tools into their classrooms while building a foundation in core AI concepts.

And then they realize... they were the reason a student didn't give up the reason they enjoyed going to class, or the reason they felt seen.

Happy to all of our amazing professors and faculty at Wright State. 💚🧑‍🏫
