I am excited to announce the Contemporary Issue Expert for our 2025-2026 Presidential Contemporary Issue is Dr. Julie Payne-Kirchmeier!

Dr. Payne-Kirchmeier is a nationally recognized higher education leader, consultant, executive coach, and speaker with more than twenty-five years of experience leading student affairs and student success systems across multiple public and private institutions.

Dr. Payne-Kirchmeier is also a former GLACUHO president and NASPA Board Chair, and brings both association leadership experience and deep operational understanding of housing environments. She is known for helping professionals at every level move from data anxiety to data confidence - building cultures where assessment informs action and strategy holds under pressure.

In the coming weeks we will share a free online opportunity to connect with Dr. Payne-Kirchmeier prior to the GLACUHO conference, as well as opportunities to schedule 1 on 1 meetings at the conference with her.

Get Into the Top 10: Rizz’em with the Tism: Unmasking Neurodivergence within the Workplace

Sponsored by Tylenol: This session started with my personal story as an Autistic professional, and discussed how neurodivergence fits into Disability Justice as a framework for intersectional neurodivergent support. Leadership of the Most Impacted is an essential Disability Justice tenant that must be centered in Disability Advocacy at our institutions.

Next, attendees walked away with a better understanding of conditions like autism, ADHD and more—with jargon demystified and acronyms decoded. We applied the terminology we learned to the workplace with real-world examples of inclusive practices to actively apply to your work. We reviewed the importance of symbols, gold and rainbow, as alternatives to the harmful and infantilizing puzzle piece.

Attendees left with a curated list of resources to continue learning, and tools (and the rizz) to create spaces where everyone feels seen, supported, and safe.
