Attention, Stivers School for the Arts families!

Dayton Public Schools has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the 2026 Stivers High School football season due to low participation and injuries.

After careful consideration, District leadership determined that the team cannot safely and responsibly continue the season. The decision also gives remaining opponents as much notice as possible to adjust their schedules.

Ohio’s Student Athlete Mobility Act takes effect October 6, 2026. While the law provides certain opportunities for eligible students to participate in extracurricular activities at qualifying neighboring schools, Stivers football players who have already participated in a football contest this season are not eligible to continue the 2026 season at another school under OHSAA Bylaw 4-1-4.

We understand this decision is disappointing for Stivers student athletes, families, coaches, and supporters. The District will work to support our student athletes and provide families with information about future opportunities.

ATTENTION, STIVERS SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS FAMILIES!

Join us on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th for our first Seedling fundraiser of the new school year. Come on down to the FIFTH STREET BREW PUB between 5:30pm-8:30pm to enjoy a fun evening out with friends complete with raffle baskets, a brewery tour, and seasonal bottles. Stivers students benefit from 10% of all business donated during that period, and 100% of proceeds generated from the raffle!

A wonderful night out supporting our students— it’s a win-win! We hope to see you there!

WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF DONORS TO HELP THIS STUDENT!!

The Creative Writing and Visual Arts magnets would like to ask for your assistance in getting one of our highest achievers to Carnegie Hall to accept TWO national Scholastic Art and Writing Awards -- for both magnets. This is the first time in the history of our school that an artist has achieved this honor.

And that student is Gentry Heflin. Attached are the winning pieces: an excerpt from their poem titled "Ode to John Coltrane" and a ceramic mask titled "White Jesus."

We are raising funds to pay for airfare and hotel for Gentry and their grandmother who will act as es**rt. The seedling Foundation has set up a fund for this purpose.
