Maria Koss, junior health science major, is getting a firsthand view of the future of health professions training thanks to the new Dave and Norma McCarthy Virtual Reality Lab in memory of Dr. Anne Crecelius.

On Thursdays, Koss works as a teaching assistant in the VR lab for human anatomy. Kimberly Ritterhoff, UD Department of Health and Sport Science senior lecturer who teaches the section, covers class content before students head to equipment to examine human anatomy in 3D.

With tears in her eyes leaving the U.S., teacher education student Lauren Windsor had some trepidation trading the familiarity of her classroom for an immersive internship promising challenge, transformation…and the journey of a lifetime.

Windsor was on her way to Barretstown, a nonprofit in Ireland offering residential camps and programs for children and families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. She is studying to be an early childhood educator and intervention specialist, and saw the live-in activity leader internship as an opportunity to expand her horizons while gaining skills and serving the campers. The challenge of leaving home to work in a different country quickly dissipated as she was introduced to the camp.

The White Coat Ceremony was held on September 12th in the Kennedy Union Boll Theater to mark a significant milestone for our DPT students as they prepared to begin their first clinical rotation. This special event celebrated the transition from classroom learning to hands-on patient care, officially kicking off their 12-week clinical experience, which started on September 22nd. During this rotation, students will focus on general medicine and neurology, applying their knowledge and skills in real-world settings as they take this important step in their professional journey.
