Our Philosophy

Taiyo Washin Ryu remains a traditional Japanese style of karate that focuses on a few practical techniques, the effectiveness and artistic form of those techniques, and training both the mental and physical aspects of karate. headquarters for Nihon Karate-do Taiyo Washin Ryu is in Dayton, Ohio, with another dojo in Los Angeles, California. Taiyo Washin Ryu consists of third and

fourth generation students of the Okinawan te taught to Master Shykumine. It is important for our purposes to realize that, with every generation, there have been improvements for the betterment of the style and the student. As a Taiyo Washin Ryu student you are assured of a strong sense of tradition, which can be applied and enriched in a twenty-first century context. Through practice of Taiyo Washin Ryu karate, every student has the opportunity to seek and discover the true path to enlightenment.

March 20th, 2020. Our deepest to Chuck Norris' family, friends, and students around the world.

He set the standard for martial arts excellence and integrity, and his impact reached far beyond the screen. He will truly be missed.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of martial arts legend Chuck Norris—a true icon, a pioneer, and one of our own.

From his earliest days on the cover of Black Belt Magazine to becoming a global symbol of strength, discipline, and honor, Chuck never forgot his roots in the dojo. He inspired generations through his achievements as a champion, instructor, and beloved star, while always living by the code of respect and integrity.

His passing leaves a profound void in the martial arts community, but his legacy will live on in every student, every practitioner, and every life he touched.

Rest in power, Chuck—the world is bowing.

Playing to win.

Many of us have played competition sports of all sorts. I would say we all played to win. We practiced, we trained, we invested time in the gym, we watched competitive reels, and more....

So why do we not do the same with life?

Play to win at life. Do we educated and fill our minds with knowledge and wisdom? Do we feed our bodies with healthy foods, and exercise? Do we fill our souls with encouragement, inspiration and wisdom from the Word of God?
