Did you know GDS has a wellness center right here on campus? The Connor Wellness Center is here to make healthcare a little easier and more accessible for our students and families.

Our wellness center offers a variety of services, including:

🩺 Well-Child Visits & Check-Ups
👀 Vision Services
👂 Hearing Screenings
🦷 Dental Services
…and more!

And here’s a little family-friendly bonus: younger siblings are welcome, too! If your little one needs a check-up or one of our available services, you don’t have to make a separate trip across town.

🎉 WE MADE IT THROUGH WEEK ONE! 🎉

And just like that…the first week of school is officially in the books! 📚✨

Our scholars showed up, settled in, learned new routines, reconnected with friends, met new teachers, and started the year STRONG! 💪🏽

From the first day jitters to those “I’ve got this!” moments, we are already seeing so much excitement, energy, and potential across our school. 💙

To our GDS families: YOU made it through too! The morning routines, packed backpacks, drop-offs, pick-ups, and “How was school?” conversations are officially back! 😂

What an incredible way to kick off the 2026–2027 school year!

Today our halls were filled with smiling faces, laughter, new friendships, and the excitement that only the first day of school can bring. It was amazing to welcome back our returning scholars and officially welcome our newest students and families to the GDS community!

A special thank you to our families for trusting us with your children each day and for helping make this morning such a success. Your partnership means everything to us.

🎓✨ Tiny Caps. Big Dreams. Endless Possibilities. ✨🎓

Yesterday, we celebrated our Second Annual Pre-K Graduation! What a beautiful day filled with smiles, laughter, proud families, and lots of happy tears as we honored our youngest scholars and all they have accomplished this year.

Our Pre-K students have grown in so many ways academically, socially, and emotionally, and we couldn't be prouder of the confidence and excitement they showed as they crossed the stage and prepared for their next adventure: Kindergarten!

A HUGE shout-out to our incredible Pre-K team: Mrs. Pasha, Mrs. Kerry, Ms. Tiffany, and Ms. Britt! 💙 Thank you for your patience, dedication, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to our scholars. The love and care you pour into your classrooms every day help create the strong foundation our students need to thrive, and yesterday's celebration was a testament to your hard work.

To our graduates, congratulations! We are so proud of all you've accomplished and can't wait to see the amazing things you'll do next.

📚🍕☀️ Reading Pays Off! ☀️🍕📚

Our annual Pizza & Popsicle Party was a sweet celebration of our dedicated readers!

Students earned an invitation by meeting their Accelerated Reader (AR) goals and returning all of their library books for the school year. Their hard work, responsibility, and commitment to reading deserved to be recognized. What better way to celebrate than with pizza, popsicles, and time with friends?

This special tradition recognizes students who demonstrated a love of reading while taking responsibility for our school library. We are incredibly proud of the readers who set goals, stayed committed, and finish!

A huge shout out to Sweet P's Handcrafted Ice Pops for helping make our celebration extra special with delicious frozen treats that our students loved! 🍧

Congratulations to all of our Pizza & Popsicle Party participants! We hope you enjoy a well deserved celebration and continue exploring new stories all summer long.

It was a close one from start to finish, but the staff held on for a 57-55 win. Our students played with heart, hustle, and determination, and the crowd brought amazing energy all game long.

🏀 FINAL SCORE: Staff 57 | Students 55 🏀

The students came ready. The staff came nervous.

Last Friday after a hard-fought battle that had everyone on the edge of their seats, the staff managed to hold on for a narrow 57-55 victory in our annual Student vs. Staff Basketball Game!

Our students showed tremendous heart, skill, and determination, proving that the future of GDS basketball is bright. The staff may have won the scoreboard battle, but we're not convinced they'll survive next year's rematch. 😅

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create an unforgettable afternoon filled with competition, laughter, and school pride.

Until next year, the staff keeps bragging rights... barely.

One of the highlights of our Spring Awards Ceremony was the incredible performance by our African Drumming Exploration students!

Through rhythm, teamwork, and dedication, our scholars brought energy and excitement to the stage while showcasing the skills they have developed throughout the year. Their performance was a powerful reminder that music is more than sound. It is culture, history, expression, and community.

We are so proud of these students for their hard work and confidence as they shared their talents with our families and staff.

🏆⚽ What a Championship-Worthy Day at GDS! 🏈🏀

Last Friday, we celebrated an incredible year of growth, achievement, and student success at our Sports-Themed Spring Awards Ceremony!

From recognizing our scholars' hard work and perseverance to enjoying performances from our ASL Club, African Drumming Exploration, and Main Character Ballet Club, the afternoon was packed with talent and celebration.

Families also explored our student Art Exhibit and Exploration displays, showcasing the creativity, learning, and experiences that made this school year so special.

A huge thank you to our students, staff, and families for making this event one to remember. The trophies may have been handed out, but the real win is seeing our students grow, lead, and shine.
