Dear Northwood Families,
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the sad news that Linus, our beloved Northwood therapy dog, passed away today, Wednesday, August 19. 💔🐾
Linus experienced a significant seizure early Wednesday morning. After consulting with his veterinarian and considering the quality of life he might have following this seizure, I made the very difficult decision that the kindest thing I could do for my sweet boy was to let him go peacefully.
Linus was so much more than a therapy dog. He was my companion, my friend, and a beloved member of our Northwood family. 🐾 He greeted students in the hallway, comforted children when they were having a difficult day, brought smiles to countless faces, and somehow seemed to know exactly when someone needed a little extra love.
He had a special way of making Northwood feel a little more like home.
Linus touched the lives of so many students and staff during his years at Northwood. I know there will be many children—and adults—who will feel his absence deeply. Mrs. Kincaid and I will be working to support students who are experiencing grief, sadness, and loss as a result of Linus's passing. We will provide opportunities for students to talk, remember, and process their feelings in the days ahead. ❤️
Please know that I am grieving right alongside you. Saying goodbye to Linus is incredibly difficult, but I am grateful for every day I was so very fortunate to have him—and especially grateful that I got to share him with the Northwood family.
Rest in peace, Linus Richardson Moore. 🐾💔 August 19, 2026
You were loved.
You were cherished.
You made a difference.
And you will be missed more than words can say. 💔🐾
Love you forever, Linus. ❤️
